Reverse K: Die Scratch In Lower Right Wreath

Obverse 11                                               Reverse K

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Both arrows are undersized, with the left arrow being smaller than the right arrow. Remember that unlike the 1853, 1854 and 1855 hubbed arrows and dates, the date and arrows on 1873 obverse dies were manually punched. Manual punching lead to variations in placement and size of the arrows, as is demonstrated by the weakly punched arrows on Obverse 11.

Reverse K features a prominent die scratch into the lower right wreath. I have found this die pair to be very difficult to locate above VF grade.
