Obverse Diagnostic Point(s) Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)
Comments: Obverse 5 is easily identified by heavy re-engraving of the letters in STATES.
On Reverse G, the Medium S mintmark is very high and nearly touches the bottom of the bow knot. Use the mintmark position and the sloping date as the primary diagnostic points for Variety 108. Reverse G will be paired with a second 1888-S obverse die.
