Comments: Obverse 7 was first identified and published by Tim Cook in the July, 2001 issue of the Gobrecht Journal, the publication of the Liberty Seated Collector's Club.

The Obverse 7 date punch slopes upward and is positioned further right than on other 1840-O obverse dies. Star 6 shows bold repunching to the left of the bottom two points and above the star point adjacent to the denticles. Star 8 is closer to Liberty's head than the cap.

Reverse F is in an early die state and exhibits a Small O mintmark that is centered and high. During this pairing with Obverse 7, Reverse F is rotated left by 18 degrees. Reverse F will be later paired with Obverse 4 to create the F-108 variety.
