Comments: A small die crack is visible from rock to rim at the right side of date on Obverse 3. Weakness in the lower shield is typical for this date.

Reverse D exhibits a die crack at STAT(ES). There are very faint cracks from the letters in A(MERI)CA to rim.

Reverse D will again be employed by the New Orleans mint during 1842, resulting in one of the three major shattered reverses for the 1842 production year.
