Comments: Obverse 8 develops a rim cud at 8:00 during its late die state pairing with Reverse F.

Previously Obverse 8 was paired with Reverse K which suffered a terminal die state cud at 12:00 and probably retired. During Variety 112, Obverse 8 is paired with Reverse F which is also worn and cracked. The legend on Reverse F is weak especially at AM(ERICA) and barely readable on lower grade specimens. The die crack through AMER(I)CA is primary diagnostic even during this late die state.

Variety 112a is rare and only detectable on examples grading EF or better since the rim cud will wear quickly.
