Comments: Nearly all 1862 dimes come well struck except Variety 105a. Many examples are found with prooflike
surfaces. With a modest mintage of 847,550 pieces and at least ten known obverse dies, collectors can assume
a limited usage of dies. Few, if any examples have been seen with die cracks or significant die erosion.
