Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: I am aware of two sets of obverse/reverse die pairs that were used to strike proof coinage. Both obverse dies employed for proof coinage have date positions that are similar. Close examination is recommended to differentiate the two obverse dies. Both proof and business strikes were struck from the Obverse 1 and Reverse A die pair. The primary diagnostic point for Obverse 1 is a horizontal die line directly above LIBER(T)Y. This die line crosses through shield lines 11 and 12. I believe this variety to be the PF-2 listing by Jeff Strutzel within issue #75 of the Gobrecht Journal.
