Obverse 9: Medium Level Date, Open 6

Reverse I: Perfect Die

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Date position is the only diagnostic for Obverse 9. The date punch is level with respect to the base and is closer to the base than the denticles. A high date position designation would not be unreasonable as the date punch is somewhere between medium and high distance from the base.

This obverse die variety was first identified by Dick Osburn during early 2006. The plate coin was later sold via the ANR Old West and Franklinton auction held on August 11, 2006.
