Comments: Both Obverse 1 and Reverse A have been polished removing considerable device details. The misplaced upright of the 1 digit is barely detectable. The 9 digit is very open.

The Medium S mintmark shows only the deepest points of its impression in the reverse die. I believe this die state variety is more common than the earlier die state without the die polishing.
