Comments: Obverse 2 is heavily rusted in this later die state. Obverse die damage can be seen thorough Liberty's body. The most obvious rust damage is found on Liberty's upper body and arms. There is a faint die crack from the rim through Star 9 to cap. No die chips are evident around the stars.

Reverse B exhibits a clear example of spurs off the feet of AME(RI)CA. I have seen two Mint State examples of this variety, both were the sharpest strikes seen for the 1849 New Orleans dime date.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, PCGS MS63 Ex. Lovejoy, Rettew
