Comments: In an early die state, the medium upward sloping date is the only diagnostic for Obverse 6. Die chips are visible around Stars 3 through 6. The denticles below the date are poorly struck.

Reverse G is the third Medium O reverse employed by the New Orleans mint during 1856. The Medium O mintmark is positioned left and low. Die clashing is visible between DI(ME) and above the lower leaf to the right of the mintmark.
