Comments: The middle die state of Reverse B has developed a set of die cracks originating from the wreath ends and crossing into STAT(E)S. The die crack then crosses through STATE(S) and exits to the rim. Another faint die crack can be seen from lower left wreath down through the left stem to rim. Reverse B will be paired with two different obverses from 1850 and one of those pairing exhibits a Reverse B die state that appears to be earlier than this 1849 plate coin. It is possible that some 1849 dimes were struck in 1850 with a left over 1849 obverse die. More research is needed on this finding.
