Type II - Variety 110

 Obverse 8: Medium Level Date

Reverse J: Perfect Die

Obverse 8                                                Reverse J

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: The date punch on Obverse 8 is level and parallel to the bottom of the base. Digits in the date punch are well defined with a date measurement that is between DR 1R and DR 1B2. DR 1B2 was selected as published measurement. Legend is weakly hubbed, especially (STATES OF).

Reverse J is perfect in this die state but will degrade with usage. On a later die state example, Reverse J.2 develops a die crack on the left side of the wreath that exits to the rim at 10:00 and is listed as Variety 110a.
