Reverse G.2: Clashed Die

Obverse 7.2                                           Reverse G.2

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: This is another 1868 die pairing that exhibits die clashing during a later die state. Obverse 7 can be found with die clashing in both the left and right obverse fields.

Reverse G exhibits traces of clashing at DIM(E). The severity of die clashing between the obverse and the reverse is inconsistent as seen on several 1868 clashed die pairs. More research is needed in this area but availability of EF or better specimens is a hurdle.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, NGC MS64 CAC Green
