Comments: Obverse 2 shows considerable erosion of the denticles. The die crack from STAT(ES) to Liberty's eye has become more pronounced.

The filled Micro S mintmark is positioned similar to Reverse A. The Micro S mintmark is slightly lower and nearer to the horizontal crosshair in the illustration above. There is a die scratch in the left wreath at about 9:30 that provides additional diagnostic help. No major die cracks are present on Reverse B at this point in time. The Micro S mintmark on Reverse B is very faint. It can be easily missed with the coin being mistaken for a weakly struck 1875 dime. For example, the plate coin is presently in a PCGS holder labeled as 1875 Philadelphia strike.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, PCGS MS60
