Comments: Variety 116 is yet another die pairing between an early die state obverse die and a well worn and rusted reverse die. The obverse on this variety appears to match Obverse 11 that was previously listed as Variety 111 based on date placement and is listed as such.

Reverse P is extremely worn and rusted. The rust is most evident in the right wreath and corn ear. There is a batch of rust surrounding (ON)E. The mintmark on Reverse P is centered and high.

Bill Mackrides is credited with the discovery of this variety and providing to the author during 2008. More research is warranted for 1875-S Below Wreath dimes to explain the reasons for a substantial number of reverse dies found in shattered late die states or rusted quality problems.
