Obverse 12                                                Reverse J

Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: The date position and the die cracks surrounding Liberty's head are the key diagnostics for Obverse 12. The die crack to the left of Liberty's head starts at the tops of STAT(ES) and drops to the lower loop of STATE(S) then across to Liberty's head. There are a group of die cracks to the right of Liberty's head. The first die crack leaves Liberty's head and ends in the field above the cap. Another starts to the left of the cap, then through the cap and into the lower section of (O)F. Another starts immediately to the left of (O)F, then through the top of the (OF).

Reverse J is cracked as illustrated above. This reverse die shows die clashing behind DIM(E). A later die state of Reverse J is known with a large die cud between 9:00 and 10:00 on the left wreath. See Variety 112a listing.
