Type I Reverse - Variety 102
Obverse 2: Medium Date, Slight Upward Slope
Reverse B: Doubled ON(E) DIM(E)
Obverse 2 Reverse B
Obverse Diagnostic Point(s) Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)
Comments: All 1877 obverse dies come with a lower second 7 digit punch in the date. On the second 7 digit, the flag is lower than on the first 7 digit. The base of the second 7 digit is longer and gives the appearance of being larger than the base of the first 7 digit. I have seen a few seller's of 1877 dimes attempting to highlight the larger and/or lower second 7 digit as a variety. It is not.
On Reverse B, both E's in ONE DIME are doubled as illustrated above.
