Comments: The reverse die on 1877 proofs shows strong doubling. The region including DI(ME) and the outer edge of the oak leaves in the lower right wreath shows the strongest die doubling. This reverse will be paired with a second 1877 obverse die.
Within issue #75 of the Gobrecht Journal, Jeff Strutzel lists a Type I reverse 1877 proof. He indicates that the pendant can be found between the 8 and 7 digits and that the (S)TATES is partial. I have not seen an example of the variety.
