Scarcity: A common date in the lower circulated grades but becomes difficult in grades of EF or better. Large O
examples are more available in lower grades than the Small O. The Small O is quite scarce in EF or better grades.

Comments: The Huge O or "Reverse of 1838-O" dimes are listed as Variety 108 and 108a. They command a significant price premium.
More difficult is Varieties 107 and 109, which is the pairing of the 1839-O Huge O lapped obverse die with two different Small O
reverse dies. The first pairing is with Small O Reverse B and should command a very significant premium if available. The final
pairing of the Huge O obverse with a second Small O Reverse G is also very rare at this time with two examples extant. Variety 103,
the marriage of Obverse 1 with the common Large O Reverse D die, also is very difficult to locate and should be afforded a
considerable premium when found. During July 2010, an incremental die pairing between Obverse 3 and Large O Reverse H was added.
Reverse H is a new reverse die with was previously undocumented in either 1839 or 1840. More research is needed to determine the
origins of Reverse H.
