Comments: Kam Ahwash lists his Ahwash 4 variety as a Medium S over Small S mintmark but supplies no photographs. Wexler and Miller list the repunched mintmark variety shown above as a Medium S over S. Since no one in the numismatic field has produced an alternate Medium S over Small S variety, I must assume that Ahwash believed the first mintmark punch in the upper loop of this variety to be that of a Small S.
