Comments: On Obverse 16, the date punch is positioned high and has a slight downward slope. There are random die lines on the gown directly above the pendant and to the right of the scroll end.

Reverse O exhibits a Medium S mintmark that is right and high, the only 1887-S reverse die to date that presents a mintmark positioned right. The mintmark has been repunched per the doubled lower serif and repunching to the right of the upper serif.
