Variety 106b

Obverse 6.2: Worn Obverse Die, Die Cracks

Reverse F.3: Reverse Die Cud at AMER(ICA)

Obverse 6.2                                            Reverse F.3

Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Reverse 6 degrades further and is in a terminal die state. A portion of the reverse die is separated resulting in a retained cud between the rim, the right stem end and the lower right wreath. On lower grade specimens, the A in AMERICA appears to be completely eliminated as a result of the broken die. However, the EF45 example indicates that the letters AMER(ICA) are still being struck but sitting on raised metal that is easily prone to wear.
