Comments: A difficult date to locate in proof condition with estimates of 30-40 known. Obverse 1 die is boldly doubled north on the shield and within the lower gown folds. There is also a die defect on Liberty's left breast.
On Reverse A, a die line is seen from the rim to AME(R)ICA. This reverse die is employed again in 1857 to strike proof coinage for that year.
Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, PCGS PF64
