Comments: This is the first of two 1876 obverses with repunching of the 76 digits. Close inspection is necessary to differentiate Varieties 105 and 106. On Obverse 5, the 76 digits are repunched up. The repunching is most visible underneath the bottom of the 6 digit. This obverse shows die doubling under the bottom of the horizontal lines in the shield. There is an extra horizontal shield line visible on the right side of the shield. Obverse 5 is lightly clashed in this die state. On Reverse E, several die defects and a diagonal die line are present on the corn ear in the right wreath. The reverse is lightly clashed.
