Comments: On Obverse 21, a die crack connects STA(TES) with Liberty's head and proceeds onward toward the Liberty cap.

The Medium O mintmark on Reverse W appears to be repunched west. However, the reverse die in the later die state Variety 124a listing does not exhibit repunching on the mintmark. Is the above "repunching" actually strike doubling as seen on other 1891 New Orleans coinage due to heavy striking force? Die cracks are visible on the left side of the wreath with two die cracks exiting into the rim at 10:00 and 11:30. These cracks with result in a significant die break during a later die state.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, VF20
