Comments: The tops of an 8 and 9 punch are seen in the denticles below the final 89 digits. On Obverse 14, there is a die crack through the bottom of UNITE(D STATES). Interestingly, the Medium O mintmark on Reverse P appears to be repunched east. However, a closer examination of the entire reverse devices revealed strike doubling on this coin. Is it possible that the first conclusion of a repunched mintmark may be incorrect and the actual cause of the doubled mintmark is strike doubling? Chris Pilliod first identified the misplaced 8 and 9 digits in the denticles.
