Comments: Both Obverse 17 and Reverse S are in early die state based on the plate coin characteristics and listed as Variety 120. The obverse fields on the plate coin are slightly proof like and indicative of early die state.

Obverse 17 can be diagnosed by an upward sloping date position with DR measurement 1L and working hub transfer weakness at (OF AMER)ICA. Reverse S is mostly well defined with typical weakness at the upper left wheat stalk grains. The medium O mintmark is positioned high towards the ribbon bow.

The amount of coinage struck by this die pair is unknown. However, the reverse will suffer an event that leaves the die shattered between 2:30 and 4:30. Examples with partial cuds are listed as Variety 120a.
