Obverse Diagnostic Point(s)                     Reverse Diagnostic Point(s)

Comments: Both the obverse and reverse dies are in a late die state with severe die cracks.

Obverse 7 is shattered with obvious die crack through UNITED and STATES. A second die crack connects the bottom of letters ST(ATES) with Liberty's head and exists to the rim above the cap. Another die crack connects with the die crack above cap and proceeds down the cap and OF AMERICA and connects with the foot.

Reverse J die is also shattered. A partial die cud is forming in the outer left wreath area between 8:00 and 10:00. Both plate coins are at the same die state and are the latest seen. It is doubtful but with enough searching, a Reverse J seated dime with huge die may yet be discovered!

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection (above top) PCGS EF45, and (top) EF 40
