Comments: During this late die state, Obverse 6 is paired with a second reverse die. Obverse 6 shows heavy erosion of the denticles across all rim denticles. Reverse D features a CC mintmark that is positioned low and far right. The distance or spacing between the two C's is considerable, but not as large as that of Reverse H commonly known as the "Wide CC Mintmark" variety. There are several soft die scratches in the upper left wreath at approximately 10:00. Reverse D is in an interim die state and exhibits radial die cracks throughout the wreath and bow areas.

Previous/Subsequent Die Pairings - In Wreath Obverse 6

This is the die pairing for Obverse 6. Previously Obverse 6 had seen considerable usage while striking dimes with IW Reverse C. During its earliest die state, Obverse 6 was paired with BW Reverse B.

Previous/Subsequent Die Pairings - In Wreath Reverse D

This listing is the only known die pairing with Reverse D. But given the amount of die cracks and denticle erosion on the plate coin, one would assume that Reverse D was previously paired with another obverse die. The challenge of finding a specimen with an early die state Reverse D continues.

Plate Coin: G. Fortin Collection, MS 62 - Ex. Lemus
