Comments: Obverse 27 has several diagnostic points. The date punch position has a Denticle Ruler measurement of -1B0 and is positioned slightly lower than other 1876 Carson City obverse dies with the same DR measurement. There is a noticeable diagonal die scratch that pierces the right shield and proceeds through LIBER(T)Y.

Reverse Z exhibits a weak CC mintmark punch that appears perfectly level and is positioned left and closer to the ribbon ends. There is a die defect on the left C mintmark upright as illustrated above. Some minor die doubling is seen on DIM(E) but that will disappear quickly on lower grade examples.

Variety 135 was discovered by the author during November 2014 as part of a purchased Gerry Fortin Rare Coins lot.
