Strong demand for Liberty Seated Dime Top 100 varieties continues. Dealers are attributing Liberty Seated dimes with Fortin variety numbers and referencing the Top 100 Liberty Seated Dime Varieties set. Prices on key date varieties are moving up due to insufficient supply in a strong market. Collectors seek higher grade examples to better illustrate important varieties. Common date varieties trade at retail prices unless the dime is a superior original specimen. It is important to note that choice original Top 100 varieties in either PCGS or NGC holders may bring prices even higher than those suggested below. The only area of weakness in Top 100 varieties is 1841-O Closed Bud Transitional dimes. In grades ranging from Good through Fine, there appears to be more supply in the market than demand at current prices.

Demand for originality is increasing as are prices. TPG grading of original circulated strikes is becoming trendsetting. Choice original slabbed Seated coinage in the Fine through Extra Fine grades bring strong premium over pricing guides. CAC review and green sticker valuation also contributes to increasing premiums. As a result, Coin World Values is not longer a reliable benchmark for retail buy and sell prices. The PCGS Pricing Guides is currently the best gauge of market pricing. If collectors desire nice original problem free dimes with original gray patina, then be prepared to pay a premium as market is becoming tiered.
